I need opinions. First- what do you think about those inserts people put put in their wedding announcements? Someone close to me has told me that they are totally tacky and against every rule of etiquette under the sun. I asked her how everyone would know where we are registered? Her answer, "They'll ask." What do you think???
Second- I need some suggestions as to the best places to register. As of this moment, im thinking Kohls and Bed Bath and Beyond. These are okay, no?
Third- What were the "register items" you cannot live without? What are the "Wedding Registration essentials" in your opinion?
I dont think its tacking to have the inserts. Its easy for everyone to know where you are registered without you having to be asked 101 times
ReplyDeletekohls and sam's club or Costco
Its nice to be registered at placces where they have an easy return policy so if you do get something you don't want you can put it on a gift card and then get something you need.
We registered at target and kohls but target is kind of hard to return things sometimes
I loved getting the dish set I wanted. as well as matching glasses. Also register for matching picture frames. Its always nice to have those when you get all your awesome wedding pictures! :)
love you
Im so excited for you!
I wish I could be there. Where is it going to be

Ok... when people don't put inserts in or tell me where they registered... I DON'T GET THEM A REAL GIFT! People don't ask as often these days! People WANT to be informed on the invitation or insert as to where you're registered. As for places to register... I like your choices! THANK YOU for not choosing Target! We did... but didn't take our registry there seriously. I like both the stores you chose and they have great return policies!
ReplyDeleteAs far as what to register for... well, that TOTALLY depends on what you guys need/like/want! Everyone is different so some may say such item was a must have while others may say something completely different! I'd recommend just going to the store (w/ a friend if you're doing this before he gets back... cuz alone is just too overwhelming) and go isle by isle! If you forget stuff, you can always go back and add more online!
Hope that helps!
Oh gosh it is not tacky at all. You know I would be the first to tell you if it was. It will help everyone who is wanting to get you a gift. I would suggest you do it.
ReplyDeleteI personally did not include inserts in my invites. I don't think they are tacky per se, but I felt uncomfortable with them. We would not have registered at all but ended up registering for about a dozen things on Amazon. On our invites, we included our wedding website link and on our wedding website, we included the registry link. It worked for us! But I want to emphasize that even though I don't like them, I don't ever try to convince others not to use them. Everyone is different
ReplyDeleteOh and I meant to write this too: People for sure ask about your registry if they can't figure it out.
ReplyDeleteInserts are not a bad idea at all. It gives people a direction. I dont think that it is tacky at all. You just need to do what you think is right for you. I would have to agree with Emily, that Target is very difficult to return items to, if you have to. Also if you are needing help with registering, give me call and I would be happy to help...after all we are pretty much going to be sisters now!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ladies! I really appreciate any and all suggestions. Im leaning on the side of not putting them in, but still not sure. I don't like making decisions...at all. If I had the funds, i'd hire someone to make all wedding decisions for me. You think i'm kidding?
ReplyDeleteWow! That sounds just like my mom!!! I agree, I think they are kindof tacky. It makes it seem a little like they are expecting a gift. But I don't judge. : ) I would register at target. We bought a ton of things from there and have been happy with them. Things that I thought were essential... Hum. Pans. Toaster. Mixer. Can opener. Ice cream scoop. Ice cream maker. (ok...maybe not essential...nut for me!) there were also a lot of things that aren't essential but I'm very glad we had. An electric skillet, mini loaf pans, a glass pitcher. Hope that helps!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't see a problem at all with the inserts. People want to know where you register. It makes it a lot easier for them. I have also seen a lot of announcements with it written in small print on the bottom or the back. But inserts aren't tacky. In fact, I have only seen a couple without saying where they were registered.
ReplyDeleteWe actually had a lot of trouble with Bed Bath and Beyond here in Provo, but that's not to say it will be a problem everywhere. Employees there told us different things and made it really complicated and frustrating. We noticed most people got us gifts from where we registered, but we received a lot from other places as well. It might be easier to stick with just one place like Target. They have good prices, are everywhere, and have lots of variety.
Kitchen stuff is a must!! Some people even register for camping stuff or tools or games...whatever you want and need.
Just remember registries make it both easy for you AND the people buying you gifts. I hate having to think of things for someone just so they take it back because they got duplicates.
No matter what you need, make sure you get the good stuff. Your wedding is the one time people will spend the extra money to get you exactly what you want instead of the cheaper version. Obviously still keep in mind your guests who can't spend a lot of money, but don't be afraid to register for expensive sheets or name brand kitchen supplies.
ReplyDeleteWhich reminds me- Pampered Chef is a GREAT place to register. I know a lot of girls who instead of a formal shower had a Pampered Chef party and everyone bought stuff to stock up the bride's kitchen and then set the bride up as the "hostess" so she could get whatever else she needed at a discounted rate. Their products are lifetime guaranteed, so you know you're getting good stuff. And you know me, a well-stocked kitchen is high on my list of priorities.
Megan...I just made my first Pampered Chef purchase the other day...two stones. SO excited to use them! PLUS, my groupies at work are planning on doing that very thing for me as a shower...SO excited!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the well-stocked kitchen. Gotta have it.
